My Thoughts

I listened to this in audiobook format, the only book this year that I didn’t “read.” I had wanted to read the physical version of each book, but ran short of time towards the end of the year and visited Audible for this one.

You know it’s going to be a good book when Ernest Hemingway gushes about the book on the back cover and Cal Fussman suggests it in Tools of Titans. Beryl Markham was the first woman aviator to fly solo from east to west, lived most of her life in Kenya, and also trained horses. The book was beautifully written and read more like a novel than an autobiography. In one chapter, she writes from the perspective of her horse. It was fascinating. This is a book full of adventure, captivating in its eloquence, and exotic in its locals.
