Reason Book was Chosen:
I saw Hamlet performed at the Globe Theatre in London in 2000. It was an amazing experience. I bought the Hamlet book at the Globe and read it after seeing the play. I'd like to read at least one Shakespeare play per year and this year it will be Hamlet.

My Thoughts

There are so many great and memorable lines from this play:

  • “This above all: to thine own self be true.”
  • “There are more things in heave and earth, Horatio, Than are dreamt of in your philosophy.”
  • “There is nothing either good or bad but thinking makes it so.”
  • “The play’s the thing wherein I’ll catch the conscience of the king.”
  • “To be or not to be…”
  • “The lady doth protest too much methinks.”
  • “Assume a virtue if you have it not.”

What a story! What rich language. Shakespeare causes you to see the world afresh.
