My Thoughts

This was a fun thriller. I kept wondering what parts Bill Clinton advised on and which ones were straight from James Patterson. I’m curious how this writing partnership worked.

The story centers around a planned massive cyberattack on the United States. Patterson & Clinton go into some detail of what a complete shutdown of the internet and corresponding data elimination would entail. It isn’t pretty, but it’s a good exercise to consider the ramifications of our increasing complexity of and reliance upon electronic data. For example, a complete shutdown means no access to money (banks records inaccessible), no access to medical records (medical records gone), and no electronic stock trading. We’d be looking at a complete shutdown of social order, financial systems, and police protection.

This was a quick read, a general thriller, and a good beach book.
