I’ve read the book and also listened to your podcast. The part you didn’t like about the soul not existing, was the part that hit me. While reading, i think he really gets you there so you can actually grasp the fact that everything around us involving myths, beliefs and soul are just a product of our imagination. We seperate us from other animals also with the fact that we can talk, make stories, lie and fantisise. I truely think that is how religion started. Like he sais, if enough people believe it, it is unstoppable, untill people stop believing. I think the reason why most people hold on to a soul is the mear fact that we are affraid of the abscence of it. It gives people reason to live and die, because the soul lives on. Because if it doesn’t, why are we here? It couldn’t be just to maintain the race? And i think it is.. we have the power to imagine, something other spiecies don’t. This book really changed my view on a lot of things in life. Not all in a good way but very realistic.
Thank you for your comments and for listening, Amélie!
