I’ve just read the book and wanted to listen to your thoughts. I really enjoyed the book, took some really good ideas out of it which I’ll look to put into practice.

I was heartbroken after the first two chapters, it’s just horrible to think that these types of things happen and I consider myself very fortunate to never have had to deal with anything like that.

I do think there are things missing here though as well. Prepping for races for example he seems to get that wrong on quite a few occasions i.e. inadequate footwear / spare bike parts etc. for someone that uses visualisation you’d think he would be better prepared?

I also don’t like the analogy of wasting your time doing things that aren’t important, maybe they’re not important to him but there is a case to be made that we need to take time to enjoy ourselves and have fun? Should we go at 100% all the time to be prepared? We’re not all at war?

I think you’ve covered it really well here. I’ve added Living With a Seal to my possible reads for 2021.

    • Thanks for sharing. Yeah, I think what he’s getting at (and this is from hearing him on hours of podcasts as well) in the wasting time area is in relation to daily habits. Habits lead one way or another. For him, wasting time once makes it easier to waste time tomorrow. Not wasting time makes it harder to waste time tomorrow. It’s more about direction than actual “wasting” of time.
