Hmm, I'm actually looking for a book like that myself. I just purchased one that I plan to read at some point in the future. The author is someone who has translated a number of Plato's works and I've had this book recommended to me by others. It might be a good place to start. It's called Plato of Athens: A Life in Philosophy by Robin Waterfield. If you end up reading it, please let me know what you think.
