Doug McKelvey’s novella The Places Beyond the Maps is one of the best things I’ve ever read and it’s the only book that has ever made me cry. I want to read all I can get my hands on from Doug, so I picked The Angel Knew Papa and the Dog up and it was lovely. I want to read it to my daughters. It’s one of those stories I know I’ll be thinking about for a while.
